Prompts and Videos from Estate Planning Webinar

Today I spoke with Jeffrey Bowley, CPA, MT at the Bucks County Estate Planning Council about AI. In our slides I included several prompts and videos. I promised the attendees I would upload the videos from the class.

Ethical Billing Review in Claude

This first video was not in my slide deck, but I thought folks might find it useful. It is how to conduct an ethical review of a billing entry. This review was complete in Claude. The prompt:

I am a lawyer reviewing my time entries for ethical compliance. Please read only the entries I have pasted below. Identify any entries that may raise concerns under Rule 1.5 (reasonable fees) because: The task appears to have been completed with AI assistance but is billed at full hourly rate without adjustment The time appears duplicated or billed twice for the same work The description is too vague to justify the time claimed The time claimed seems disproportionate to the complexity of the task For each concern found, quote the entry and explain the issue. If you find no concerns on a point, say so explicitly.

. 2.5 hrs — Drafted motion to dismiss. Reviewed case law. 1.0 hr — Reviewed and revised motion to dismiss. 0.5 hr — Research. 1.5 hrs — Client communication re: case strategy.

Creating a PowerPoint in Copilot

Creating PowerPoints can be incredibly time consuming. Copilot and Claude are both excellent tools for this. This video shows me creating a PowerPoint in Copilot. The prompt:

Create a professional PowerPoint presentation titled “Why Estate Planning Matters: Protecting What You’ve Built” for an estate planning attorney giving a free educational seminar to potential clients. The presentation should be 12–15 slides and include:

Opening: A compelling hook about what happens when someone passes away without an estate plan, including a real-world scenario of a family left in legal limbo.

Core content slides covering: What estate planning actually is (in plain, non-legal language) Common myths about estate planning (e.g., “I’m not wealthy enough,” “I’m too young,” “A will is all I need”) The key documents everyone needs: will, power of attorney, healthcare directive, and trusts What happens under intestacy laws when there is no plan in place How estate planning protects minor children How to minimize estate taxes and avoid probate The cost of NOT planning vs. the cost of planning A brief overview of when and why to update your estate plan

Closing: A clear call to action encouraging attendees to schedule a free consultation. Use a clean, trustworthy design with a navy and gold color scheme. Keep the language simple and accessible, this audience has no legal background. Use speaker notes on each slide with talking points the attorney can reference. Include relevant statistics where possible.

Edit: Add your firm name, local state laws, or specific client demographics you are targeting (retirees, young families, business owners, etc.). If you want specific branding, provide your website. Claude is especially good at matching branding.

Follow-Up Email Sequence in Claude

When you provide a free seminar as a way to bring in clients it is important that you follow up. Here I had Claude generate the follow-up emails for me. The prompt:

Write a 4-email nurture sequence for an estate planning attorney to send to people who attended a free estate planning seminar. Space the emails over 3 weeks. Email 1 should thank them for attending and recap key takeaways. Email 2 should address the most common excuse for not starting estate planning (“I’ll get to it later”) and create gentle urgency. Email 3 should tell a short, anonymized story about a family who suffered because they had no estate plan. Email 4 should make a direct but non-pushy offer for a free 30-minute consultation. Keep the tone approachable and empathetic, not salesy. Include subject lines for each email.

Lexis+ AI Intestate Succession

Here I ask Lexis+ AI to find Pennsylvania’s intestate succession statute and summarize it. The prompt:

Show me Pennsylvania’s intestate succession statute under 20 Pa.C.S. Chapter 21 and summarize how assets are distributed when someone dies without a will, including the surviving spouse’s share and distribution to descendants.

Access GPT or Claude Through Lexis+ AI

This is another prompt that I did not include in the estate planning deck, but I thought I would include it here. When I tell attorneys that Lexis+ AI provides access to various models of GPT as well as Claude, they are often surprised. Frequently, accessing consumer level tools through an API provides additional security. It is still important to anonymize information. In addition, these versions of the tools cannot do everything that their full versions can do. For example, you cannot create a PowerPoint through this version of the AIs. There is also a limit on the size of the files you can upload as well as the type.
